There are two official languages of Bosnia Herzegovinal They are Bosnian and Croatian. Bosnian and Croatian are both part of the Indo-European language family. They are also part of the Balto-Slavic and South Slavic branches. The speakers of these languages are from the Serbo-Croatian leaves on a language family tree. These languages are in the same language branch so some words are similar but they will not be exactly the same because people speak different dialects depending on where they are from. This dialect makes the pronounciation sound different but some words can be decifered because they are in the same language branch and family. Bosnian is an officially recognized minority language in Serbia, Montenegro, and the Republic of Kosovo. Bosnian uses bothe Latin and Cyrillic alphabet. Croatian is the standardized variety of the Serbo-Croatian language and is used by Croats principally in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croatian is written in Gaj's Latin alphabet. Bosnian is also based on the most widespread dialect of Serbo-Croatian, Shtokavian, more specifically on the Eastern Herzegovinian, which is also the basis of Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin.
